Wisdom, Afropacific Enterprises Baskets

Sum yourself up in one sentence:

We are a small business venture which takes great delight in sourcing artisan made products which are not only ethically sourced but are also environmentally friendly.

When and why did you did you start your business?:

In 2010 when we airfreighted 9 sacks of baskets to do local markets, we have built our business to now sell wholesale to other businesses.

On arrival in Australia, I decided the best thing would to be my own boss and return to international trading as I have always done. The skills of trading in various commodities was learned from a very young age when I was still tied to my mother’s back in the market place in Ghana.

What is your most treasured craft, tool or possession?:

Passport and atlas – it allows you to find and visit places where you can source crafts direct from the artisans themselves. We call it bizventure!

What is your favourite quote?:

At Afropacific, we say “trade not aid.” Emancipation comes from self-sufficiency, independence and a sense of self-worth. We value trading with the people of the Upper East Region of Ghana. By purchasing these products, we don’t just help empower these talented artisans but also contribute to sustainable development, preserving traditional skills and promoting ethically produced goods and work practices.

What do you like about living on the Coffs Coast?:

Although we don’t currently reside in Coffs Harbour, Kylie is a Coffs girl and we still regularly visit Mum and Dad at the home where she was raised.
